A whetstone is used to remove small burrs of wood chisels or other sharp tools after slipping.
The chisel is pressed firmly onto the whetstone with the sharpened surface and the burr is removed by making lightly rotating movements. Water, saliva or petroleum are usually used as lubricants.
This whetstone consists of two layers: a coarse grain for roughing and a fine grain for razor-sharp finishing.
